This procession witnesses a sea of people adorning traditional attire, with small boats constructed out of paper, banana leaves, and colored paper representing the ancient trading vessels. These boats are beautifully decorated and laden with miniature merchants, animals, and goods symbolizing the foregone trading traditions.

    The procession then moves towards the banks of the Mahanadi River, where the boat replicas are released into the water with fervent chants of “Aa Ko Bali Jao, Boita Bandana Aau Ta Bali Jao,” meaning “Go to Bali and come back with valor, take this Boita Bandana with you.” The river waters come alive as these small boats gracefully glide on its surface, creating a mesmerizing sight. This ritual signifies the symbolic voyage of the merchants to Bali and their desire for prosperity and success in their trade endeavors.
